SUMMARY:Watercolor Unleashed - Wet & Wild Ocean! -- with Julie Gilbert Pollard
DESCRIPTION:This workshop will show you how to paint the misty\, salty ocean waves as they crash upon the rocky shore. \nLearn to apply the “anatomy” of an ocean wave – along with how to paint rocks that actually look solid and hard – to a water-media painting. \nThe focus of this workshop will be watercolor – with gouache as a secondary OPTIONAL medium. \nA very versatile painting medium\, gouache can be used in both transparent / translucent and opaque applications. \nAdding gouache to your watercolor toolbox opens up a range of possibilities with the medium\, thereby helping us to capture our artistic vision. \nYou will be encouraged to add gouache white OR a full palette of opaque colors if you wish. The choice is yours!  Review the supply list for more details. \nReference photo material will be shared with you\, but you are welcome to use your own if you prefer. \nThere will be demos\, instruction at all levels\, one-on-one critique and lots of painting time. \nClass time will be structured\, yet open enough to accommodate the artistic spirit within us all. \nAll levels are welcome and encouraged to attend. The only prerequisite is an attitude of joy in the act of painting and some watercolor experience! \nTuition: $475 (member)/$525 (non-member) \nhttp://www.pineshoresartassociation.org \neducation@pineshoresartassociation.org \n6095973557

SUMMARY:Painting a Marine Still Life with Watercolor
DESCRIPTION:Designed for intermediate and advanced watercolor artists\, this studio workshop focuses on strengthening composition\, subject editing\, color balance\, and value control while you create a realistic\, marine-themed still-life painting. \n“Paint what you know” is a helpful reminder\, so we’ll begin by working directly from observation. Before you put brush to paper\, you’ll handle buoys and rope and study the surfaces of weathered wood to better understand their forms and textures. A life-size still life with cast shadows will be set up in the studio for close viewing and sketching. \nWorking with a limited palette\, you’ll explore materials and techniques for building believable texture and shadow\, along with strategies for overlapping shapes and creating depth so your finished painting reads as three-dimensional. \nTuition:  $75(member)/$100(non-member) \nhttp://www.pineshoresartassociation.org \neducation@pineshoresartassociation.org \n6095973557 \n

SUMMARY:Watercolor Pencils & Watercolor Painting -- an Exploration of Techniques
DESCRIPTION:This class offers a different entry point into watercolor—one that begins not with rules\, but with learning the language of water itself. \nBy understanding how pigment flows\, blends\, and responds\, you gain a natural sympathy for the medium that many classes overlook\, making painting feel far more intuitive and enjoyable. \nWe begin by creating a few small paintings on bookmarks—simple\, low-pressure exercises that can be kept or discarded— \ngiving you the chance to explore techniques and get comfortable before moving into a finished piece. \nFrom there\, we transition into working with shells for inspiration\, sharpening observational skills while learning how to translate what we see into color\, shape\, and composition. \nUsing richly pigmented Dr. Ph. Martin’s inks alongside watercolor pencils\, you’ll experiment with both fluid washes and controlled line\, expanding your approach to the medium. \nAll materials are provided\, so you can arrive and begin creating right away. \nTuition:  $50 \nhttp://www.pineshoresartassociation.org \neducation@pineshoresartassociation.org \n6095973557
