Ocean County is home to The Barnegat Lighthouse, dubbed ” Old Barney ” The original lighthouse had been commissioned in June 1834 , being replaced by today’s lighthouse in 1859. Situated on the Barnegat Inlet, in Barnegat Light, It’s a popular spot to picnic, fish, crab, walk and climb the lighthouses 217 steps.
