SUMMARY:Vanities: The Musical
DESCRIPTION:  \nVanities: The Musical chronicles the life-affirming journey of three vivacious Texas teens from cheerleaders to sorority sisters to housewives to liberated women and beyond. \nThis musical captures a snapshot-sharp portrait of the lives\, loves\, disappointments\, and dreams of these young women growing up during the turbulent sixties and seventies and reconnecting in the late 1980s. \nWith a tunefully evocative score by David Kirshenbaum (Summer of ’42) and Jack Heifner’s hilarious adaptation of his long-running Off-Broadway smash\, \nVanities: The Musical is a funny and poignant look at three best friends who discover that\, through thirty years of rapidly changing times\, the one thing they can rely on is each other. \nhttps://surflight.org/ \ninfo@surflight.org \n609-492-9477

SUMMARY:Bobby Horton: Patriot Songs of the American Revolution
DESCRIPTION:Patriot Songs of the American Revolution\nBy Bobby Horton\nOur musical heritage plays an essential role in preserving the history\, culture\, and spirit of our nation’s early days. \nThrough music\, we hear not only of events but also the hopes\, dreams\, and disappointments of those who lived through them.\nThe music presented in this program was part of that journey. \nThese are the songs that fueled the colonists’ desire for freedom and unity. \nThey include stirring anthems meant to rally support for the independence movement\, celebratory tunes marking victories that lifted spirits\, \nhumorous songs poking fun at the enemy\, and lighter “pop” tunes beloved by the common people. Each of these songs tells a story of resilience\, hope\, and determination. \nSunday October 4\, 2026 at 3:00pm \nPrima Studio Theatre \nAll tickets $24 discounts available for active & retired military\, plus OCC Students\, faculty\, and staff. \nTickets go on sale Thursday July 9th at noon. \nwww.grunincenter.org \n732-255-0500 \nThis event is made possible through the generous support of the Ocean County Cultural & Heritage Commission.

SUMMARY:Watercolor Unleashed - Wet & Wild Ocean! -- with Julie Gilbert Pollard
DESCRIPTION:This workshop will show you how to paint the misty\, salty ocean waves as they crash upon the rocky shore. \nLearn to apply the “anatomy” of an ocean wave – along with how to paint rocks that actually look solid and hard – to a water-media painting. \nThe focus of this workshop will be watercolor – with gouache as a secondary OPTIONAL medium. \nA very versatile painting medium\, gouache can be used in both transparent / translucent and opaque applications. \nAdding gouache to your watercolor toolbox opens up a range of possibilities with the medium\, thereby helping us to capture our artistic vision. \nYou will be encouraged to add gouache white OR a full palette of opaque colors if you wish. The choice is yours!  Review the supply list for more details. \nReference photo material will be shared with you\, but you are welcome to use your own if you prefer. \nThere will be demos\, instruction at all levels\, one-on-one critique and lots of painting time. \nClass time will be structured\, yet open enough to accommodate the artistic spirit within us all. \nAll levels are welcome and encouraged to attend. The only prerequisite is an attitude of joy in the act of painting and some watercolor experience! \nTuition: $475 (member)/$525 (non-member) \nhttp://www.pineshoresartassociation.org \neducation@pineshoresartassociation.org \n6095973557

SUMMARY:Drawing with Joseph Rogine
DESCRIPTION:1:00 PM – 3:00 PM \nThis class is being offered to ages 12 and up! \n$20.00 for members per class \n$25.00 for non members per class \nInstructor: Joseph Rogine \nThese classes are designed for both beginning to advanced students who want to sharpen their skills in drawing. \nI have taught students for over 25 years who have never picked up a pencil to draw to those who have been quite advanced. \nIt is an academic course\, (academic being defined as that which can be taught). \nDrawings are created by copying master drawings\, simple to complex still-life objects and classical plaster casts. The student usually begins by copying a master drawing that is supplied to them. \nAll students start out using graphite pencils with grades of 2H HB 2B. \nThe capabilities and limitations of drawing materials and drawing instruments are discussed at length along with their proper handling. \nClasses are essentially about learning how to see nature and the world as an artist sees it\, through the language and medium of drawing. \nThe student’s eye will gradually become trained and sensitive on how to compose a layout on the page\, assessing proportion\, elementary perspective\, gauge angles\, identify shapes\, access the degree of curvature of forms\, locate hidden movements and linear rhythms\, the structure and modeling of form and the study of light and shade. \nThis opens a whole new world towards a visual literacy that was very common in school curricula 100 to 150 years ago. \nDepending on a students’ progress and particular interest repeat students are free to experiment with various drawing mediums like charcoal\, pastel pencil\, pen and ink etc.\, along with the drawing surfaces applicable to their chosen medium. Joseph Rogine supply list 2024. \nIf you have any questions\, please contact Joseph Rogine at 732-349-6859\, or by email at info@ocartistsguild.org. DESCRIPTION:Deceived\, based on the original play Gaslight\, is a psychological thriller that will leave audiences on the edge of their seat. \nA suspense-filled storyline\, Deceived delves into the depths of manipulation\, deception\, and paranoia as it delivers a chilling outcome that you won’t soon forget. \nBella Manningham thinks she’s losing her mind. \nIn the evenings\, she hears strange sounds and the gaslights dim for no apparent reason. \nBut is she losing her grip on reason\, or is it being loosened for her? Will the gaslight have its intended\, murderous\, effect? \nhttps://surflight.org/ \ninfo@surflight.org \n609-492-9477
