SUMMARY:Edible History: How Latin American Food Changed the World
DESCRIPTION:Go on a culinary adventure with Edible History: How Latin American Food Changed the World\, \na travelling exhibit by the Newark Public Library’s New Jersey Hispanic Research and Information Center. \nThe exhibit will be available to view from now until September 30 in the atrium of the Toms River Branch of the Ocean County Library during the branch’s regular operating hours. \nCan you imagine a world without French fries\, ketchup\, or chocolate? \nNo guacamole or salsa to eat with chips? No beans for “rice and beans?” No corn tortillas for tacos\, no popcorn\, or corn on the cob? \nNo tomato sauce for spaghetti or pizza? No pumpkins for Halloween? No turkey or sweet potatoes at Thanksgiving? \nMany of the foods that are part of our daily lives today were not known in the rest of the world before Christopher Columbus sailed across the Atlantic Ocean and reached Latin America. \nEdible History takes a deep look at the Latin American origins of chocolate\, quinoa\, tomatoes\, corn\, potatoes\, and peanuts. \nRegistration is not required to view the exhibit. \nFor more information\, call 732-349-6200\, or stop by the branch at 101 Washington Street.
