SUMMARY:Beginner Portraits in Oils
DESCRIPTION:Take the mystery (and the fear!) out of painting portraits. A face is just another subject—built from simple shapes\, thoughtful proportions\, and clear values. \nWith patience and guidance\, you’ll learn the essentials of form and anatomy that bring a portrait to life. The rewards are well worth the journey! \nWeek 1: \nWe’ll begin with a brief introduction to composition and lighting. \nUsing just one color\, you’ll map out the major shapes of the head—placing features\, simplifying forms\, and establishing lights and darks. \nThis step-by-step approach allows you to make adjustments easily before moving into paint. \nWeeks 2 & 3: \nYou’ll begin working with a limited palette—only four colors—to understand how subtle and beautiful skin tones can be mixed without overwhelm. \nYou’ll develop a strong foundation in value\, temperature\, and color harmony that can be applied to any medium going forward. \nWhether this is your first portrait—or your first in a long time—you’ll build confidence as you see your painting come to life layer by layer. \nPerfect for beginners or anyone wanting to strengthen their portrait fundamentals. \nhttp://www.pineshoresartassociation.org \npineshoresart@gmail.com \n6095973557 \n

SUMMARY:Drawing with Joseph Rogine
DESCRIPTION:1:00 PM – 3:00 PM \nThis class is being offered to ages 12 and up! \n$20.00 for members per class \n$25.00 for non members per class \nInstructor: Joseph Rogine \nThese classes are designed for both beginning to advanced students who want to sharpen their skills in drawing. \nI have taught students for over 25 years who have never picked up a pencil to draw to those who have been quite advanced. \nIt is an academic course\, (academic being defined as that which can be taught). \nDrawings are created by copying master drawings\, simple to complex still-life objects and classical plaster casts. \nThe student usually begins by copying a master drawing that is supplied to them. \nAll students start out using graphite pencils with grades of 2H HB 2B. The capabilities and limitations of drawing materials and drawing instruments are discussed at length along with their proper handling. \nClasses are essentially about learning how to see nature and the world as an artist sees it\, through the language and medium of drawing. \nThe student’s eye will gradually become trained and sensitive on how to compose a layout on the page\, assessing proportion\, elementary perspective\, gauge angles\, identify shapes\, access the degree of curvature of forms\, locate hidden movements and linear rhythms\, the structure and modeling of form and the study of light and shade. \nThis opens a whole new world towards a visual literacy that was very common in school curricula 100 to 150 years ago. \nDepending on a students’ progress and particular interest repeat students are free to experiment with various drawing mediums like charcoal\, pastel pencil\, pen and ink etc.\, along with the drawing surfaces applicable to their chosen medium. Joseph Rogine supply list 2024. \nIf you have any questions\, please contact Joseph Rogine at 732-349-6859\, or by email at info@ocartistsguild.org.
