DESCRIPTION:International pianist Ching-Yi Lin presents “Heroic Journey\,” a program that explores transformation\, struggle\, and triumph through music. \nFrom the dramatic intensity of Bach’s Chromatic Fantasy and Fugue to the brilliance of Chopin’s Heroic Polonaise\, the program is anchored by Beethoven’s Eroica Variations and the transcendent final sonata\, Op. 111\, tracing a powerful emotional arc from conflict to resolution. \nOriginally from Yunlin\, Taiwan\, Dr. Lin holds a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the Peabody Institute of the Johns Hopkins University and has appeared at distinguished venues including Merkin Hall at Kaufman Music Center\, Van Cliburn Concert Hall in Texas\, Washington National Cathedral\, and Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall. As a soloist\, he has been recognized in numerous international competitions\, earning awards at the Beethoven International Piano Competition in Singapore\, the New York International Artists Association Competition\, the NTD International Piano Competition in New York City\, Second Prize at the Texas State International Piano Competition\, Third Prize at the Marbella International Piano Competition\, and the Wonderlic Piano Competition. \nIn addition to his solo career\, Lin has collaborated with members of the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra\, National Symphony Orchestra\, and the Philadelphia Orchestra\, and in 2024 he was featured as guest pianist in a special concert honoring Leon Fleisher at the Mohican Hills Concert Series. DESCRIPTION:Since bringing home the Gold and Silver medals at the 2016 Rio Olympic Games\, Laurie Hernandez has gone on to win the coveted Mirror Ball trophy on “Dancing with the Stars” Season 23 and her first book titled “I Got This: To Gold and Beyond” chronicling her journey thus far was published in 2017\, hitting the New York Times Best Sellers list. In 2018\, she released a children’s picture book “She’s Got This\,” also a New York Times Best Seller\, while serving as a Literary Champion to promote readership as a path to leadership\, and Mattel created Laurie Hernandez “Shero” Barbie to honor her. \nShe is a second-generation American\, as her grandparents are from Puerto Rico\, making her the first U.S.-born Latina to make the U.S. team since 1984. Laurie was also the gymnastics analyst for NBC at the Tokyo 2020 and Paris 2024 Olympic Games. Her live commentary at the Paris games garnered her rapturous praise from the entertainment community and viewers. \nActing is one of her biggest passions\, and she has done cameos\, voiceovers\, and even co-hosted American Ninja Warrior Junior.
