DESCRIPTION:April 1\, 8\, 15\, 22\, 29\, May 6\, 13\, 20 \n3:30 PM – 5:30 PM. \nMembers:  $160 \nNon-members:  $200 \nHello members\, \nMy new class is starting\, and I will continue to set up a still-life\, and instruct students with their own projects\, but . . .Ever get frustrated with a watercolor you just can’t get right? \nBeen there\, done that.  Some time ago I did a portrait of a niece in watercolor. \nLoved the tilt of her head and the flowers in her hair (she was a bridesmaid I think); but at that time I could not achieve the softness of her face in paint. \nSo\, I went over the entire work with pastels\, which are soft and blend beautifully. \nJoin me in class\, beginning April 1\, 3:30 – 5:30\, for 8 weeks.  $160 members\, $200 for non-members. \nI will supply the pastels.  Doesn’t have to be a portrait that you want to enhance\, could be landscape\, still-life or abstract. \nSo much fun to get messy with your materials. \nhttps://www.ocartistsguild.org/event/d-y-o-t-with-instruction-carol-colvin/ \ninfo@ocartistsguild.org \n732-270-3111 \n

SUMMARY:Drawing with Joseph Rogine
DESCRIPTION:7:00 PM – 9:00 PM \nThis class is being offered to ages 12 and up! \n$20.00 for members per class \n$25.00 for non members per class \nInstructor: Joseph Rogine \nThese classes are designed for both beginning to advanced students who want to sharpen their skills in drawing. \nI have taught students for over 25 years who have never picked up a pencil to draw to those who have been quite advanced. \nIt is an academic course\, (academic being defined as that which can be taught). \nDrawings are created by copying master drawings\, simple to complex still-life objects and classical plaster casts. The student usually begins by copying a master drawing that is supplied to them. \nAll students start out using graphite pencils with grades of 2H HB 2B. \nThe capabilities and limitations of drawing materials and drawing instruments are discussed at length along with their proper handling. \nClasses are essentially about learning how to see nature and the world as an artist sees it\, through the language and medium of drawing. \nThe student’s eye will gradually become trained and sensitive on how to compose a layout on the page\, assessing proportion\, elementary perspective\, gauge angles\, identify shapes\, access the degree of curvature of forms\, locate hidden movements and linear rhythms\, the structure and modeling of form and the study of light and shade. \nThis opens a whole new world towards a visual literacy that was very common in school curricula 100 to 150 years ago. \nDepending on a students’ progress and particular interest repeat students are free to experiment with various drawing mediums like charcoal\, pastel pencil\, pen and ink etc.\, along with the drawing surfaces applicable to their chosen medium. Joseph Rogine supply list 2024. \nIf you have any questions\, please contact Joseph Rogine at 732-349-6859\, or by email at info@ocartistsguild.org. SUMMARY:Watercolor and Gouache Class: Bridges
DESCRIPTION:Bridges are more than structures—they are stories of connection\, history\, and design. \nIn this class\, students will explore two contrasting bridge subjects: a rustic country covered bridge and an urban bridge. \nParticipants may choose to paint one or both\, or focus on the style that speaks to them most. \nWe’ll break down strong shapes\, repeating patterns\, and perspective while using value and color temperature to create depth. \nEmphasis will be placed on suggesting structure without over-detailing and integrating bridges naturally into their surrounding landscape or cityscape. \nTuition:  $140 (member)/$180 (non-member) \nhttp://www.pineshoresartassociation.org \nEducation@pineshoresartassociation.org \n6095973557 \n

SUMMARY:Value and Light in Watercolor
DESCRIPTION:Light is what makes a painting feel real—and value is how we capture it! \nIn this immersive beginner watercolor workshop\, you’ll slow down and learn the “why” behind shading\, depth\, and form. \nUsing simple spherical objects\, we’ll explore how light behaves\, how shadows are formed\, and how value creates the illusion of three-dimensional space. \nThis class is perfect for beginners who want a strong foundation in watercolor—or artists who feel stuck making flat paintings and want clarity\, structure\, and confidence. \nBy working in monochrome\, you’ll remove the pressure of color and focus on the most important skill in painting: seeing and painting value accurately \nNo experience necessary—just curiosity and a willingness to explore. \nhttp://www.pineshoresartassociation.org \neducation@pineshoresartassociation.org \n6095973557
