Painting the Landscape from Photos

Learn to see like an artist while transforming photographic references into expressive, well-composed landscape paintings.

This class explores the pitfalls of working from photos—and how to overcome them—through thoughtful exercises and demonstrations.

Emphasis will be placed on composition, color harmony, edges, and the oil painting process from start to finish.

Students will strengthen their understanding of design and develop more dynamic, painterly interpretations of the landscape.

Students should bring their own photographs to work from.
