Living with ADHD as an Adult

October 2, 2023 @ 7:00 pm

Pt. Pleasant Beach Branch • Monday, October 2 • 7 pm

ADHD is often misunderstood and underdiagnosed in adults, with some studies suggesting only 20% of adults with ADHD are aware they have it. ADHD brings daily frustrations and struggles, but it also carries serious lifelong implications: substance abuse, anxiety, and other mental health disorders are frequently conjoined with an ADHD diagnosis. Statistically, adults with ADHD live shorter lives than neurotypical adults. Eva O’Malley, founder of TRI CHADD NJ, and Linda VanMelis, the adult program coordinator at TRI CHADD, will share information on the myriad ways ADHD can present in adults, how it is diagnosed, how to approach doctors, and how those with ADHD can build compensatory skills to allow for full and joy-filled lives.
