Invisible and Essential: Learning LGBTQIA+ Histories

October 21 @ 6:00 pm
Invisible and Essential: Learning LGBTQIA+ Histories

Invisible and Essential: Learning LGBTQIA+ Histories

For generations, the stories of LGBTQIA+ individuals have been intentionally suppressed, making their contributions and lived experiences largely invisible.

That is why the Ocean County Library will host “Invisible and Essential: Learning LGBTQIA+ Histories” at several branches this October.

The program will take place at the following locations at dates:

Friday, October 2 @ 2 p.m. – Brick Branch – 301 Chambers Bridge Road, 732-477-4513

Wednesday, October 14 @ 6 p.m. – Little Egg Harbor Branch – 290 Mathistown Road, 609-294-1197

Wednesday, October 21 @ 6 p.m. – Berkeley Branch – 30 Station Road, 732-269-2144

This presentation will make the case for why learning this history is not just a matter of curiosity, but a crucial step toward empathy and connection.

It will highlight key moments and figures that have been overlooked and discuss how understanding these historical narratives can foster a more complete and accurate view of the human experience.

Join us to learn why this “invisible” history is, in fact, absolutely essential.

Kate Okeson, Director of Youth Equity for the New Jersey Department of Education, will present the program.

Registration is required for this free program.
