Hazy Day Down the Shore
This workshop is designed for experienced beginners and intermediate level students. Join Devin as he leads you through the process of designing and painting a harmonious beachscape.
You’ll begin by sketching a thoughtful composition, balancing horizon line, focal point, and negative space.
From there, Devin will demonstrate how to block in big shapes, map out value structure, and begin layering washes to suggest atmosphere, distance and mood.
Emphasis will be on using a neutralized palette with pops of color, careful transitions between warm and cool tones, and soft vs. sharp edge control to connect shapes and create a cohesive scene.
In a casual, supportive setting, you’ll have ample time for individual work, experimentation, Q and A, and personal feedback.
