Bobby Horton: Patriot Songs of the American Revolution

Patriot Songs of the American Revolution
By Bobby Horton
Our musical heritage plays an essential role in preserving the history, culture, and spirit of our nation’s early days.
Through music, we hear not only of events but also the hopes, dreams, and disappointments of those who lived through them.
The music presented in this program was part of that journey.
These are the songs that fueled the colonists’ desire for freedom and unity.
They include stirring anthems meant to rally support for the independence movement, celebratory tunes marking victories that lifted spirits,
humorous songs poking fun at the enemy, and lighter “pop” tunes beloved by the common people. Each of these songs tells a story of resilience, hope, and determination.
