Being Bullied Because of a Disability: What You Should Know

Do you believe that you or someone you know is being bullied due to having a disability?

Unfortunately, such stories are all too common.

Learn the steps to address the harassment at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, October 8 at the Brick Branch of the Ocean County Library.

Representatives from Disability Rights New Jersey and the New Jersey Council on Developmental Disabilities will provide an overview of how bullying affects the disabled community and actions that can be taken to stop the behavior.

Topics will include:

The definition of harassment, intimidation, and bullying (HIB)

How to identify HIB conduct

The differences between conflict and HIB

Your rights according to the law

How to report HIB behavior and what to know about the HIB investigation process

The New Jersey Council on Developmental Disabilities is committed to advancing public policy and systemic change that helps people with developmental disabilities gain more control over their lives.
