Celebrate five decades of island heritage at the Long Beach Island Historical Museum 50th Anniversary Open House!
This milestone event honors the museum’s 1976 opening in the historic 1882 Holy Innocents Episcopal Church and kicks off a season of “rolling back” to 1975.
Event Highlights
Guided Tours: Join docent-led tours at 10:30 AM and 1:00 PM to explore the museum’s shingle-style architecture and open floor plan.
Let our docents tell the 150-year-old stories of events that affected the people on LBI.
Explore the more than 5000 artifacts, documents, and pictures that bring the past to life for the visitor.
Interactive History: Explore the restored Fisherman’s Cottage and the “Celebrating Summer Fun, 1950–1980” exhibit, featuring nostalgic looks at local surfing, fashion, and beach culture.
Special Tribute: At 2:00 PM, the museum will host a ceremony celebrating its volunteers and a special tribute to John Coyle, a pivotal figure in the museum’s founding.
