Re-Opening of The George I. Hopper Barber Shop & Mary Catherine Kennedy Dedication!
October 19 @ 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm
Please join us at the Barnegat Historical Society Heritage Village & Museum as we celebrate the re-opening of the Society’s venerable relic of Barnegat’s historical past George I Hopper Barber Shop. The Barber Shop has been closed to the public for some time as a number of significant maintenance problems were being addressed. This building was originally built in 1880 and located on the east side of Main St. near the corner of East Bay Ave. It initially served as a Real Estate Office until around 1900 when Mr. Hopper purchased it and converted it to a barber shop and laundry service. A highlight of the day will include the dedication of a memorial plague honoring Mary Catherine Kennedy for her dedication to education and the preservation to education and the preservation of Barnegat’s rich history.
