Booth, Lincoln, and the Shot that Changed America

This April marks the 159th anniversary of the Lincoln Assassination. Join historian Greg Caggiano for a look at his life and political career, and how he became one of the most beloved (and controversial) presidents in American history. The program will also delve into the life and career of his assassin, John Wilkes Booth, and cover the chain of events and politics that led to Lincoln’s untimely demise at Ford’s Theater.
Greg Caggiano is a historian from Monmouth County who has served on the boards of two museums: the Proprietary House in Perth Amboy, and most recently, the Atlantic Highlands Historical Society housed at the Strauss Mansion. He has spoken at Ocean County Library on various topics, including the Titanic and New Jersey’s “Haunted History”.
