The fair will feature arts and crafts vendors, holiday kids crafts activities, and a visit and photo opportunity with Santa and Mrs. Claus. Admission is free and donations are welcome. Start your Christmas shopping on Saturday!!
ALSO: A ribbon cutting ceremony for the Ocean County Artists Guild’s Community Mural, which will take place at 11 a.m. outside on the grounds of the Guild. The mural, titled “We Grow Artists”, was created by local artists, Guild members, and the local community and friends of the Guild.
Funds for the mural project were made available by a grant from the New Jersey State Council on the Arts and New Jersey Historical Commission and administered through the Ocean County Cultural & Heritage Commission. “The mural really is beautiful—the most beautiful thing about it is our membership and community worked on it together,” said Guild President Kim Cesaretti. “It shows the diversity of our community. Art is inherently inclusive. Art is for everyone. We all come together to learn to live and grow. We grow art, artists and art lovers in Ocean County.” To make the mural accessible to people with limited eyesight the text was raised in Braille. “We also hyped the [drawings’] outlines with black textured paint—a paste that you squeeze through a [pastry] piping bag. This allows visually impaired people to ‘see’ it,” she said.
The ceremony will include remarks by the Ocean County Artists Guild President and mural coordinator, Kim Cesaretti. Honored guests include the Mayor of Island Heights and representatives from the Ocean County Cultural and Heritage Commission, who provided the funds for the creation of the mural with the award of a local arts grant. This event is also free and open to the public.
