WORKSHOP FOCUSES ON TAKING CONTROL OF YOUR HEALTH
IF YOU or someone you know is coping with an on-going health condition, daily pain or providing care for someone
with a chronic health condition, community workshops are available to provide steps toward a better life.
"Through the Ocean County Office of Senior Services and our participation in the Chronic Disease Self Management Program, I
am encouraging our seniors and their caretakers to attend these community workshops to learn about better nutrition and
exercise," said Freeholder Director Joseph H. Vicari, chairman of Senior Services. "A ‘Take Control of Your Health’
community workshop can help you set your own goals to improve your health and your life."
"It’s also a great way to meet new people and participate in some enjoyable and informative activities," he said.
The workshop provides practical ways to deal with pain, fatigue and stress. Participants can discover better
nutritional habits and exercise choices and get needed support when faced with a chronic condition including diabetes,
arthritis, pain and anxiety, to name a few.
The next "Take Control of Your Health" community workshop begins Jan. 26 at the Toms River YMCA, Whitty Road, Toms
River. Classes run from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and include lunch. Class size is limited. To register call the YMCA at
732-341-9622, Ext. 0. Or, for more information on "Take Control of Your Health" workshops call Louanne at 732-281-8391.
