PROMOTING TOURISM

Ocean County Freeholder Director Joseph H. Vicari, (left) who serves as liaison to the Ocean County Tourism Advisory Council reviews a list of matching grant recipients with Fred Schneeweiss, Tourism Advisory Council chairperson. Now in its 23rd year, the county's Matching Tourism Grant Program will provide 51 grants totaling $59,845 to municipalities and non-profit organizations to help promote tourism events throughout the county. Vicari noted that the grant program is the county's version of an economic stimulus program. Tourism is a $3.3 billion industry in Ocean County, which provides 65,000 jobs.
