NEW TRAFFIC SIGNALS APPROVED FOR BERKELEY AND JACKSON

THREE NEW traffic signals will be installed at intersections in Berkeley and Jackson townships later this summer.

“These signals are part of our ongoing maintenance and safety improvement program for county roads,” said Freeholder John P. Kelly, Director of Law and Public Safety. “We are constantly reviewing our 620 miles of roads and looking at how we can increase both driver and pedestrian safety.”

Traffic lights are on tap for:
  • Dover Road and Pinewald-Keswick Road, Berkeley Township. A new reconfigured traffic signal will be installed in anticipation of future intersection improvements. Those improvements will include construction of a dedicated left turn lane for Pinewald-Keswick Road.
  • Bennetts Mills Road and Cooksbridge Road, Jackson Township. The existing signal will be replaced prior to developers widening the road.
  • Jackson Mills Road and Hyson-Smithburg Court in Jackson Township. A new traffic signal will be installed. Radius improvements will be made to the intersection, which will also be repaved.

The Ocean County Board of Chosen Freeholders will award the $598,809 contract to Solar-Mite Electric Contractors, Inc. of Fords, said Freeholder Director James F. Lacey.

Work is scheduled to begin at all of the intersections later this summer and be completed in about five months, Lacey said.
