HEARING IMPAIRED ENCOURAGED TO ATTEND DEFENSIVE DRIVING COURSE

TOMS RIVER - A sign language interpreter will assist the deaf and the hard of hearing through Ocean County's Defensive Driving Course scheduled to run Aug. 23 and 30th.

"We are encouraging those residents in Ocean County who may be hearing impaired and can be helped by a sign language interpreter to attend this class," said Freeholder John P. Kelly, Director of Law and Public Safety.

The class will be held on the First Floor of Building 7 at the Ocean County Board of Social Services complex at 1027 Hooper Avenue, here. The two four-hour sessions will run from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Aug. 23 and 30.

Participants should bring either a pencil or a pen and their driver's license with them.

The course helps provide for an insurance discount of 5 percent for three years as required by State Law. A fee of $8 will be charged. A check or money order only can be made payable to the County of Ocean.

For the motor vehicle two-point reduction, an additional $10 money order only will be required payable to the New Jersey State Safety Council.
